- Does Obama believe the rights of the community supersede the rights of the individual?
The answer to all these questions is, of course, yes. Obama and all his underlings do believe in these statements and want to use them to transform America from a free, individualistic and capitalist society into huge centralized, government-controlled way of life.
This Week in Health Care Reform: March 29th, 2013
In advance of next week’s decision on proposed payment changes to Medicare Advantage, a new detailed impact analysis is released; while the administration’s top health official acknowledges that costs could be going up; separate bills are introduced to both repeal the health insurance tax and protect brokers; and, three years later, a quick look back at what the health care law has already wrought and where it goes from here.
Health Care Reform
Impact Analysis: Late last week, a new analysis by management consulting firm Oliver Wyman detailed what the proposed payment cuts to Medicare Advantage would mean to beneficiaries in specific states. Building on an earlier report in which they estimated seniors could face higher premiums of up to $90 per member per month, the new analysis, released by AHIP’s Coalition for Medicare Choices, breaks down by state the cumulative impact of CMS’ proposed cuts to Medicare Advantage, in terms of premium increases and/or a reduction in benefits, with 40 percent estimated to fall in the $60 to $75 range.
Actuarial Cost: On Tuesday, the Society of Actuaries released a new study predicting that costs for insurers in the individual market could go up by 32 percent on average in the next four years. In fact, the study goes on to predict that some states could see their costs rise by as much as 60 to 80 percent in that time. Perhaps most tellingly, despite asserting that definitive data on these costs wouldn’t be available until later in the year, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius acknowledged that some individuals, particularly men and younger people, in the individual market could see their costs increasing in the next few years.
Pair of Bills: Also last week, two bills were introduced in the Senate, both aimed at cushioning the blow for populations exposed to new taxes and restrictions imposed under the Affordable Care Act. The first bill, introduced last Tuesday by Sens. John Barrasso (R-Wyoming) and Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), seeks to repeal the health care law’s health insurance tax. As constructed, it’s estimated that this tax alone would result in individuals purchasing coverage on their own having to pay $110 more in premiums next year, while employers would be on the hook for an additional $360 for each family they cover. The other bill, introduced last Thursday by Sens. Mary Landrieu (D-Louisiana) and Johnny Isakson (R-Georgia), addresses the medical loss ratio (MLR) provision in the Affordable Care Act and its dramatic consequences for insurance agents and brokers. As currently written, the MLR provision requires insurers to treat the valuable services provided by agents and brokers as parts of their administrative services. The proposed bill seeks to exclude their compensation from the final MLR calculations.
Legacy and the Road Ahead: With this past weekend marking the third anniversary of the Affordable Care Act’s passage, a new study seeks to shed some light on the administrative burden borne out over the sweeping health care law’s first three years. Released by the American Action Forum, their analysis estimates that the law has already resulted in more than 111 million hours of paperwork and $30 billion in costs. Whether or not opponents find enough in those numbers to rally behind is anyone’s guess, but in the meantime, some took advantage of this past weekend’s milestone to put forth their own arguments as to why the occasion was nothing worth celebrating. Regardless, the question remains: Three years later, what does the country think of health care reform now?

Word is that the initial plan was for a 40% (!!!!) levy confiscation of Cypriot bank accounts. They settled for a MERE 6.75% and 9.9% dual-layered compromise.
Cyprus is MF Global on a national, retail banking scale. Corzine absolutely blazed this trail. The particulars are almost exactly the same. Both MF Global/Corzine and Cyprus were failing entities, both took massive, uber-leveraged risks on European sovereign debt, both swept sacrosanct customer money when the house of cards finally collapsed under the weight of its own math.
The indefensible zeroes and ones were instantly swept from the computer servers and customers were locked-out of their accounts.
Interestingly, both were goaded on and enabled by the same people. Corzine was a crony of the Obama regime, which is operationally a Chicago-based phenomenon, as are the regulators of the futures industry, along with the CME group itself.
Cyprus was goaded, overseen, and then "harvested" by the International Monetary Fund, which is chaired by Christine Legarde, who is a Chicago player, and who actually was a partner at Baker & McKenzie before being placed at the IMF by the Obama regime and bankster oligarchy. Cyprus was Christine Legarde's play, and Legarde is in the Chicago oligarch circle.
This will happen here. It already has with MF Global, Cyprus is testing the national, retail banking level, and then it will happen here. They might go straight to bank holidays here, as Warren Pollock has been talking about for over 18 months now, or they may do a levy confiscation like this on retirement accounts.

Apropo to Breitbart’s heart attack, today, only a few days before Obama’s visit to Israel, it was announced of a sudden death from a heart attack of a long time member of the Israeli Parliament Marina Solodkina. She was a PhD in Economics and an outspoken critic of militarization and resurgence of Nazism. Yesterday she gave a speech in Vilnus, Lithuania, part of the former Soviet Union. She was found dead in her hotel room shortly after the speech. Incidentally, Obama’s stepmother, third wife of Obama senior, Ruth Nidesand (Ndsanjo), mother of his stepbrothers Mark and David, came from the communist Vilnus, Lithuania.
Apropo #2, one of the assistants of the coroner who wrote a report on Breitbart’s heart attack was found dead from arsenic poisoning.
Health Care Reform
Medicare Advantage Call-to-Action: As you already know, CMS last month proposed payment rate cuts to Medicare Advantage plans for next year, the repercussions of which are already being leveraged in opposition to the proposed change. The value of coordinated, patient-centered care, specifically in regards to Medicare Advantage, has already been established, so it’s no surprise that the response to the proposed cuts has been vociferous. Late last month, a triumvirate of Congressional leaders sent a letter to CMS Acting Administrator Marilyn Tavenner outlining their concerns over what the cuts could mean to patient care. The letter, from Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Michigan), and House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-Michigan) was submitted just prior to close of the comment period. Close on their heels, last week, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida) sent a letter of his own to CMS pressing the agency to scale back the proposed cuts.
Exchange Rate: Even as the counter to October’s open enrollment date for the new health insurance exchanges continues to wind down, there’s a growing, albeit silent, murmur of uncertainty surrounding whether or not they’ll be ready in time. Despite a good many states having received approval to either operate their own exchanges or partner with a federally-facilitated version, more than half decided to leave it up to the federal government to run theirs. What’s worrying some, though, apart from the overwhelming confusion and inherent complexity accompanying their launch, is that Washington might wind up having to step in and run the exchanges for the states that find themselves faltering.
Great Expectations: There’s no denying the percussive force of the Affordable Care Act. From large employers to small business owners to uninsured individuals, there isn’t a single constituency that will escape its reach. While some have already begun exploring just how they can make sure they come out ahead once the law is fully implemented, others have sought to temper those expectations with warnings grounded in actuarial analysis and hard-won experience. But, one thing experts can probably agree on is that, nearly three years after its initial passage, there are as many questions today as answers.

The bill holds that any “transfer” of a firearm must be conducted via a middleman (in practice, a law-enforcement officer or the holder of a Federal Firearms License) and that a transferee is obliged to submit to a check under the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System. There are good-faith arguments in favor of and against this provision. But Chuck Schumer has narrowed the definition of “transfer” so strictly as to make his proposition absurd. If, for example, a gun owner leaves his home for more than seven days — leaving his firearms with his roommate, or gay partner, or landlord — he’ll be committing a felony that carries a five-year prison term. And while married couples are exempted from falling afoul of that provision, the family exemptions apply only to recorded “gifts” and not to “temporary transfers.” In order to avoid making felons of millions of couples, the government would, at the very least, need to spell out clearly what constitutes “gifting” a gun within a family and what constitutes a “temporary transfer,” thus regulating an area that has hitherto largely been left alone.READ MORE

And although wind and solar provide miniscule amounts of California energy, it matters little, given that coastal elites enjoy 70 degree weather year-round and keep their power bills low. PG&E’s and Southern California Edison’s astronomical energy costs are for “little people,” the middle classes in the hot and cold interior and mountains. The aristocracy sets the regulations that make power soar, and the interior pays far more of the costs.
